5th and 6th Class will be attending a charity blitz and table quiz in the Comeragh College in Carrick-on-Suir this Friday from 10am to 2pm.
Presently we are applying for our Health Promoting Schools Flag. Our aims for this year were to promote physical activity and healthy eating in the school. We’re on track to achieve our goals and our HPS committee is currently organising an Active Schools Week in June. We’ll keep you posted on our upcoming events.
30 Primary Schools from Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford including Ballyneale National School showcased their talent yesterday at the SPAR FAI Primary School 5s Munster Finals in Ennis.
The Provincial Finals were the culmination of three months of competition held at County level which saw Ballyneale NS progress to yesterday’s event.
Ballyneale competed in the SPAR FAI ‘A’ Schools section with Coachford NS (Cork), Doolin NS (Clare), Gaelscoil O’Dochair (Limerick), Kill NS (Tipperary) and Ballyduff Central NS (Kerry).
In very poor weather conditions, the team did very well throughout the competition but did not progress any further. Congratulations to the team who did Ballyneale N.S very proud.
First and second class went out to the garden today. First we made a wigwam using bamboo and string. The wigwam is for the peas when they grow up! Next we sowed lettuce seeds. We also planted lettuce plants. Then we planted onions and chives. When we were in the middle of gardening, it started to rain. But then it stopped and we went out again. We enjoyed our gardening very much. By First and Second Class
Today third class planted herbs in the school garden. We planted different types of herbs, lemon balm, rosemary, thyme, sage and chamomile. Then we watered our herbs.
The herbs are great for cooking and they had a really strong smell. We loved rosemary the best and we thought the lemon balm smelled like lemons! Third Class think that you should really plant these herbs, we highly recommend it.
