This week we had a drumming and recorder performance in the school.
Rhythm and Shakes led the students in a performance of African drums and chimes. Students from 1st to 6th took part in this. Their performance went down a treat. Thank you to Rhythm and Shakes for such excellent, professional work with the students over the past number of weeks.
After a brief interlude, parents and staff were treated to a recorder performance led by Ms. Dempsey. The students started learning the recorder this year. Pupils from 3rd to 6th Class ably performed some lovely pieces again for the audience.
On Tuesday boys and girls from the school visited two farm houses in the area to re-enact some scenes from rural Ireland long ago. This was for the school’s entry to The Clonmel Show photography competition taking place next month.
A big thank you to Mary O’Hanlon for organising the event and to Marian Hearne for letting us use her grounds for the photos.
The John Walsh Memorial Football Blitz was held on Tuesday the 16th in Clerihan. Girls from 5th and 6th class participated in the event. They played against Clerihan, Lisronagh and Ballylooby to get to a final match which they won by a point. This is the second shield the girls have won in the space of a few days!
On Friday the girls under-13 team from Ballyneale and Grangemockler took part in a county football blitz. They played against Borrisileigh, Cahir, Drangan and Newport. They played some great matches and got through to the final against Fethard. The girls upped it a notch in every match and in the final won convincingly against Fethard by 1-4 to 0-1.
The first and second class children enjoyed their school trip to Lismore heritage centre. First the children took part in a woodland trail, whereby they explored the ancient remains of structures long ago. They enjoyed the art and crafts activities as well as the science experiments.
And of course a trip to the local playground was the icing on the cake after a most successful school trip outing!!
Yesterday we had a sports day. We were divided into eight groups. First we did stations in our groups. The stations were; the welly throw, penalties, parachute games, dress-up, water relay, skittles, musical chairs, jenga, slow bike race, hoop throw and obstacle course.
