The Commitment Service takes place on February 23rd.

First Penance

First Penance takes place on March 10th.

Mindful Monday

Mindful Monday takes place on Monday for all students in the school.

Sugar Investigations

Students in 5th and 6th class this week investigated the amount of sugar in everyday foods.

Parents Helen and Nicola joined Ms. Whelan and Ms. O’Dwyer as they helped the students examine various packages to check the amounts of sugar in their contents.

They read the ingredients and measured out how much sugar was in a food item. They then made projects based on their findings which they showed to the rest of the school.

We were shocked by some of the results!

Birdwatch Ireland Talk

Kevin Collins from Birdwatch Ireland came in to the school on Tuesday and spoke to the students from 3rd to 6th about garden birds.  First he gave a very interesting presentation about Irish garden birds and the great distances they travel.

He then showed 5th and 6th how to build bird boxes. These will now be placed in the school grounds to feed our school garden bird visitors.

A huge thanks to Kevin Collins for his time and talk.

Kevin Collins from Birdwatch Ireland is coming to the school on Tuesday to speak to students from 3rd to 6th about garden birds.  He will also make nesting boxes with the senior classes.

Green Flag

The Green School Committee is currently raising further awareness in the school about the importance of conserving water and not wasting it needlessly.

At the moment a catchy slogan is being created while next week pupils are doing an experiment to see how much water can be saved through each flush of the toilet by placing 500 ml – 1litre full water bottles in the cisterns of classroom toilets.

We are also monitoring our usage through the water meter and using the water butt in the school garden.
