Check out the Halloween and Autumn Art that Ms. Dempsey’s first and second class have been making.
Here’s some scary pictures Ms. Fogarty’s junior and senior infants have been busy with.
A big well done to Sarah Bartley in first class who swam in the All Ireland’s Under 8 Freestyle swimming competition in May. Sarah also won the counties Under 8 Sprint in Athletics and will now be representing Tipperary in the All Ireland’s in August. A great achievement for someone so young and in both sports to boot!
A hearty Congratulations and well done to the Bartley sisters Eilish and Sarah who competed and medalled at the community games in Thurles at the weekend. They both did very well, Sarah came first in under 8 front crawl which means that she will now compete in the All Irelands this summer.
We are very excited that Yoga is starting at the school on March 7th for four weeks for Junior Infants to Second Class.
As part of our Be Active Programme, we will begin gymnastics for 1st and 2nd class pupils after school on Wednesdays for the next six weeks. We are very grateful to Miss Sarah Whelan and Mr. Paul Brennan who will conduct these lessons.
However, because of the numbers and to ensure individual attention to pupils, we will need to split the sessions and each class will get three weeks of lessons as follows:
First Class Only – Wednesday 18th January, 25th January and 1st February;
Second Class Only – Wednesday 8th February, 15th February and 22nd February.
Lessons will be held in the Community Hall from 3.10pm to 4.10pm. Children must be collected from the hall at 4.10pm. Pupils will go directly from the school to the hall at 3.00pm under the supervision of Miss Whelan and Mr. Brennan.
We have been lucky to have been part of the artist in residence scheme. A very big thank you to Magueritte Kent who has been fantastic and spent many long hours sharing her skills and techniques with the children. The past few months there has been trojan work in every room to produce a tapestry and posters which will be displayed in the County Museum in Clonmel.
Go check it out!!!
The children’s work has been themed on the wildlife and seasons on the River Suir.
Once again, the national drive for Christmas Shoe Box Appeal is in full flow. Here in the school we have been collecting Shoe boxes from all the generous donors. We reached a total of 68 boxes.
A big thank you to all those who donated all those boxes of pure joy for someone this Christmas. Also thanks very much to Phelans Shoes who very generously supplied the shoeboxes.
In the pictures below, we have the children helping Gerry Dargan try to fit all those boxes in his car.
