Active Schools Week

Active Schools Week has been a busy week in the school.

During the week infants to second class took part in an educational trail around the school grounds.

A soccer league took place at lunch times and the final will be held next week.

Relaxation activities were enjoyed by the pupils.

Infants and first and second went on a Teddy Bear’s Picnic – thank you to Helen and Nicola for helping with this.  Infants had some shared reading time with the senior classes and built some creative constructions.

Pottery teacher Finn gave a very interesting and exciting lesson to the third to sixth classes.

We now look forward to the Sports Day on Monday!

Slievenamon Walk

On a beautiful summer’s day, 5th and 6th class pupils hiked up Slievenamon yesterday as part of Active Schools Week.  It was a tough climb in the warm weather so they were glad to reach the top!

Active Schools Week Update

Active Schools Week is underway in the school at the moment.

Yesterday pupils from infants went on a trail around the school answering questions with the help of 5th and 6th class pupils.  They found out who has the longest car in the car park [Jane] and discovered some minibeasts under stones.

First and Second Class had their first relaxation time of the week and imagined themselves on lovely beaches or in paddling pools after school.  No sad or bad thoughts allowed.

Today 5th and 6th are hiking up Slievenamon.  Tomorrow pupils from 3rd to 6th are doing pottery.

The Soccer League will kick off at lunch times and all pupils will do Bizzy Breaks, a Sports Profile and Relaxation across the week.

Cycling Lessons

The last cycling and road safety lesson took place this week with Donal of Greenway Waterford Bike Hire for 3rd to 6th class.  Infants also got a chance to use balance bikes to start them off on developing their balance and cycling skills.  Thanks to Donal for the excellent lessons.

Slievenamon Walk

As a final farewell trip for 6th class who depart us this year, the 5th and 6th class students along with Ms. Whelan and parents climbed to the summit of Slievenamon on Monday.

Best of luck to 6th class students Sarah, Mia, Maeve, Abby, Seán, Lughaidh, Eric and Oisín in their new schools.
