Green-Schools Success

The Green-Schools Committee have been successful in their application for the third Green Flag on Water Conservation.

Well done to the Green Schools Committee for all their work.

Representatives from the school will receive the flag at an awards ceremony in Hotel Kilkenny on the 10th of May.

Green Flag Assessment

We had our Green Flag Assessment for water conservation this morning.  The pupils of the Green School Committee told the assessor all about their activities to highlight the need to conserve water.  Ms. Dempsey who leads the work to achieve each green flag was very proud of her committee.  Fingers crossed we will receive our next green flag!

Carrick River Rescue

Carrick River Rescue came in to the school to accept the cheque for E200 that the children raised on their water awareness day last week.  Well done to all involved in raising this money for Carrick River Rescue whose premises were badly damaged in the recent floods.

Water Awareness Day

A water awareness day was held last Tuesday in the school.

The children dressed in blue on the day and brought in €2 for the Carrick River Rescue.  Altogether E200 was raised by the pupils for this very important local group whose premises were hit badly by the recent floods in Carrick-on-Suir.

There were prizes for the best dressed boy and girl and the pupils took part in an art competition.  We also listened to the creative and catchy water slogans created.

All pupils undertook class lessons under the theme of water and how its conservation is very important.  Pupils from the Green School Committee and 6th class made graphs showing all the water the children saved by placing 1 litre water bottles in the cisterns and by also using the water butt in the school garden.
